Introduction and Bio

Hello World!

My name is Ashley Thompson and it is only clear that you have come to this blog to find out about me and my internship!

Well here is some basic knowledge about me that I promise is not the same as my Resume (well maybe just a little!)

  • I am from Stanton, California; but I say I am from Anaheim because people know that area better as Disneyland and I can see the fireworks from my room.
  • I am a transfer student from Washington State University and left due to the snow and the better degree opportunity at Arizona State University. Plus Arizona has the better weather and is closer to home. By the way my degree is Public Service and Public Policy with a concentration in Business.
  • My future career goal is to work in an industry that impacts the public in a positive aspect either in the department of regulatory or government affairs. The second option is to work for a university in their counseling services in any given major.
  • I am a Girl Scout of 13 years and very proud of that fact. The organization gave me confidence as well as the ability to travel the world. Just recently my four Girl Scout sisters and I went to Europe (London, Paris, and Italy) as a promise we made to each other. The promise was that if we stayed together till the end and graduated from high school we would save up enough to travel together... and guess what, we made it happen.
So now about my internship. My internship is with HealthCare Talent and they are a scholarship agency that places students in stable and legitimate healthcare related positions. I was placed at CalOptima, A public healthcare agency in the state of California that serves those in Medicare and Medical. Within the company I was placed within the Health Education and Disease Management, but work with different departments within the company. The goals from my internship are the following:
  • Develop an understanding of the importance of public service is in the field of healthcare to an underserved and diverse population that would influence my future care choices.
  • To witness processes within a large business including the outcome and as well the actions required to make it more efficient if possible.
  • Challenge my current knowledge and professional skills in hopes of fostering even more development as well as creating a space for general learning.
